Duet

I can not hold any more sunshine
then my eyes can carry
or hold more memories
then my hands
can leaf through

The future will not tell me
which street to turn down
If I should quicken or slow my step
Stop or run full out

I need a coffee that needs me back
a doughnut that does not protest its fate
as I taste it, nibble it, gobble it slowly

The wind off the sidewalk
sings to me songs of the street
The day moves through me
while on its way to dream

I wonder

I wonder if the dreaming is worth it
If hope is not a drowning man's wish
for more then just a shore
I wonder if the flowers care that I walk by
on my way to some vague promise I signed
with my words

The silence of my phone
Reminding me, I am alone
Yet another ciggerette
Yet another regret

What gets me, I will never know
the why of wither I stay
or go
when sleep is really
the only peace

I miss the smile that so delights

I miss the smile
that so delights my soul
As often as does a wish
I harbour all your memories
in the safe haven of my denials

On days like today
when the sun is full and hot
I reach in there and pull out a picture
of perfect past tense.
It is of you and you are smiling

My future is so dependant
on how I view the past
How best to fill the void
of life without you.

One Day

One day I will let go of paradise
And walk in my own parade
One day I will let go of the day
and embrace the night in silence

What better way to walk among the stars
then to use memories
like cosmic stepping stones
to reach the place you are

Where galaxies look like milk drops
in my coffee, that looks like the stuff
that fills outer space, black and light
still stiring

One day I will have no past
and therefore a virgin future
Where each sun will be new
holding out more promises

Nothing to say

I have nothing to say
when my voice is with you
My feet can think of nowhere
to go but in your direction

My words lie lost
within my pockets
my pen is yet
to get out of bed

I miss you

I miss you
I miss you thinking about me
I can't stand the idea
of another day
thick with the humidity
of your absence

There is a silence
developing wiht in me
and I am afraid

Words

The words have life
when they are wrote
in thought of you

Life is sweet and slow
whenever my lips feel
the motion of your kiss

And from this I take bliss
knowing that your love
still lurks there

Chocolate

A unicorn stands
Before a field of daisies
Her hoof strikes the ground
Silently as she snorts
Out the morning mist

She readies
She steadies
Then charges head-on
Into the daisies

Just as she reaches them
The daisies pull themselves back shouting

"Ole"

The sun peeks through a canvas
Of long clouds like a child
Peeking through a circus tent

An early morning moon
Glances over her shoulder
As she is on its way
To keep a promise made
To a poet and a silver spoon

Tall trees of ice-cream green
Allow the licking of the fat cats
That surrounds them
Mice are mounted upon their cat steeds
Feeling the purring beneath their saddles

Cherubs munching on the meringue of clouds
Laugh happily at the sky
With clouds stuck in their teeth and dipping
From their smiles
They reach for a cow or two
To drink down the remnants of the morning

On a hill not far away
Long mirrors play like children
All the while saying
"Look at me"
"Look at you"
"Look at the eternities we create"
Just by facing the fates of our reflections

"Look at the forevers we can make"

The cows, now done feeding the cherubs,
Wander over to the facing mirrors
To see and join in the infinite fun

I find my legs and I run over to view
This wondrous sight
Of gathered mirrors
Facing one another

I tell the mirrors

"This is amazing; I have never beheld an eternity like this"

In a puzzled wink of the light
They say to me
"Only one?”
"Stand where you are and we will show you more"

With that, the long flexible mirrors
Bent backward at the middle
Behold there was another forever
Then they bent forwards
Then twisted here and there
Yet another and another forever was created
Infinity of infinities

The ground between the facing mirrors
Began to let go
Down I went
Or up I was sent
I simply do not know

I found myself
In another place
Of living, speaking grass

"We know" they said
"Where you want to go"
"How could you" I asked
"When I don't know myself"

"Trust us"
"Trust us"
Came a billion green chants
“You have an inner knowing
Beyond your conscience grasp"

So with that I was laid down
As if I were an infant
Being lowered by his mother’s hands

The blades of grass
Carried me along
Passing me over their fingers
Like so many picnic ants

I just lied there
Watching a sky
Of living, breathing Catherine blue

After a time
I began to see
Many a fleshy nymph
Ten in all
Two larger ones with eight smaller ones
In their brood

When I was directly under them
I realized they were not
Nymphs, but toes

"Are you just going to lie there"?
Came this lovely voice from somewhere
Above my head

I stood up as if helped up
By a warm palm of liquid air

And what did I see?
Why, it was my muse
Reclining nude upon a mushroom
Of course the mushroom was as grateful
As I for this news

She swiped the air
With a swish of her hand
And there appeared there
A chocolate truffle
Its protest gently muffled
As she enveloped it
Between her fabled lips

"Hummmmm " she said
As if a thousand yes's were colliding
“Hummmmmm "
As if a million orgasms she was finding
All exploding, ever evolving
All within the world of fatal kiss

"Oh Muse" I puffed up
" I, a poet be"
" Tell me why women prefer chocolate to me"?
" What is the pull?"
"With what sweet chains
Does it hold you so?”

"Well" she spoke sweetly
"It’s one of the very few things in life that is not an acquired taste"
“Unlike you”
I fell to the knees of my deepest sadness

Her eyes slowly closed
As she seemed to consider
And with a look I will never forget, said

"So be it my love
My poet of words
If not reason"

She placed a truffle
Well within my muffled ‘thank you’
Then it happened
Flavor upon flavor
Chocolate shades begin
Within their ascension to my taste buds
My muse then did kiss me
And could not miss me
As I ran my tongue into hers

I warmed here
I heated there
As if I had a grin
Somewhere within
I swear
I was smiling

I get it
I get it
Was all that I could
Manage before my eyes
Could savor the balance
Of her kiss

We began to dissolve
Then a wind embraced us both
To take us to sweet oblivion

Our last word while kissing
Was but a whisper

“Chocolate”

I love you
I love you
spoke the fool
who talked of you
long and often

I need you
I need you
cried the manchild
unable to walk without you

I will eat you
I will eat you
Till you are in every dream
my imagination can muster

I will take you
I will make you
love every aspect
of the distracted way
I touch you

Between the hours
and through the days
I will learn to love everything
that you are and wish to be

Some to write about

I will know the day I meet her
this stranger that is meant for me
Conversations with her
will be a easy as drinking water
and as interesting as a summer day

I will feel in my hands a warmth
that seems to belong there
as if were as normal
as my breath

Her laughter will be long and easy
bright and light on my ears
Her smile will slight and mischievous
speaking a language without words

I know she is out there
somewhere
On foot or on a bike
a surf board or snow board
something to do with gliding

She will read these words
and say to a friend
I wonder if this guy is
talking about me
I better give him something else
to write about if he writes this well
about dream

I Miss You

'I miss you'
Are words that are simply said
and so deeply felt

'I need you'
Are words that fall to the floor
like so many petals
when your not here
to hear them

The ticking of the clock
promises and denies
you touch
Yet even time knows
it must eventually lose to love

So, for now
I will reach out my hands
to capture from the wind all
the kisses you have blown to me

I will wrestle them
from the invisible hands
that hold them
For even the wind wants
to love your every aspect
and wonder

To Love

To love is to chance
To care is to dare
much
To become as fragile
as a newborn snowflake
falling into a uncertain
future

Time

Time
Time stretches out before me
like a naked lover
Slowly
Fluidly telling me
to take notice
to pay heed to this moment
created by her, for me
Too quickly this might change
Too soon this will turn
softly to the past
